Behavior Support Approach

We use:

  • Positive behavior reinforcement
  • Clear and consistent expectations
  • Structured prompting and modeling
  • Emotional regulation support
  • Calm and respectful redirection
  • Individualized strategies based on each child’s needs

MLP applies a structured and positive behavior support approach within our special education environment. We believe that behavior is a form of communication, and our goal is to guide rather than punish. Teachers use clear expectations, consistent routines, prompting, and modeling to support appropriate behavior and emotional regulation. Individual strategies are incorporated into each child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), ensuring that support is tailored to developmental needs. This approach promotes dignity, self-control, and gradual independence while maintaining a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere.
